AB-GLOVES

So I like to work out.

Running. Martial arts. Boot camps. Your tabatas, and yogas, and strength days. Don’t forget leg day.

I try not to bro out about it, but I do enjoy being active. This is something I’ve embraced over many years. My challenges have included dropping over a hundred lbs from my 330 lbs weight in high school (45.36 kilograms lost). My challenges also included using running as a coping mechanism after my mom lost her battle to leukemia.

I use exercise to keep my mind and body alert, focused, and balanced.

And because of this, I regularly use marijuana when working out.

“Por Que? That’s crazy Andy!”

But it’s not. Marijuana has relaxing qualities. I’ll be the first to say that I’m not going to max out or out perform my personal best if I just smoked a bowl. I WILL however have more stamina, and pace myself better. When I run high, I usually have 10-min-mile, but I can sustain that for well into 8 miles. When I’m not high-running, I can pull off a 7-minute-mile, but that will only get me 3 miles in before my sides are splitting.

So today I did my first workout since CM3. I had a hit of weed. I put on a motivational YouTube video (which if you’ve never done is basically video game music with voice clips of Arnold, and Sly Stallone, and Michael J White telling you why you can conquer anything). And then, I grabbed my weights and started “pAmping iron”.

A curious thing occurred. Let me explain. During CM3’s visualization, we were instructed to focus on our stomach. The abs. The core. The muscles around our spine/intestinal organ area. We were instructed to squeeze that section (the mid section) like a glove. To grip it tight the way you grip a motorcycle handle, or a heavy skillet cooking breakfast for the family.

This idea changed everything. Whilst in CM3 meditation, I was able to isolate my midsection for its function. It is a glove (compos

ed of abs, obliques, dorsi) and it holds your spine straight. Literally. Like when you’re not flexing your abs, your spine crunches out of straightness.

You ever let go of a long rope? What happens when it hits the floor? It coils into a heap cause it lost it’s shape. Your spine isn’t that far from the rope.

The abs hold that beautiful, proud, important channel that holds your spinal cord. It gives you the ability to walk, swim, jump, play, and laugh.

So BACK to my workout: I’m throwing punches, curling free weights, and doing something new. I’m flexing my glove. My ab-glove. That visualization of my abs changed my idea of my abs. I used to think ‘okay flex the rectus (6-pack)’ or ‘okay, flex the obliques’. Today, my mind went ‘TIGHTEN that GLOVE’. I was activating more of my core. In terms of percentage, I was flexing with 80-95% of my core as I threw punches. I was closer to 65-75% before this “ab-glove” conceptualization.

I feel better. I’m intrigued at how CM3 realizations will improve and restructure my running workouts, but one thing is certain: CM3 helped my workout.

I’ve done A LOT of workouts, and I’ve learned a good thing: new ideas of body motion or body flexion will only HELP you. No knowledge is bad knowledge.

CM3 has certainly made this dude get more pump in a simple and safe way.
